Lower Left Wing - Solid Compression Rib Finished

The upper capstrip is glued on.
Before gluing the upper capstrip the trailing edge of the lower strip was ground to the shape of the rib with the band file I used for the OX-5 Exhaust Flanges.
When the glue dried on the upper capstrip the band sander was used to shape the trailing edge.  I used a 60 grit band.

The trailing edge gets a block of spruce glued in.  When the wing tip bow gets added the trailing edge gets cut at an angle through this block to glue on the laminations.

The fore and aft clamp was needed to keep the block tight in the capstrips.  It wanted to slide forward.

I left the leading edge end of the capstrip a little long so it could be ground off flush to the end of the nose rib.

They seem to have had problems with the tip bow coming loose from this nose rib so I've made wider blocks for attaching the laminations.

A quick grind with the band file and they are ready for adding the tip bow.  Hopefully these bigger blocks will solve the problem.

I'm done with this rib until the leading edge and tip bow get added.
